Connection: The architecture and design journal of the Young Architects Forum

In "Becoming Visible", Olivia Asuncion, AIA, interviews nine young architects and emerging professionals who are advocating for justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion. Among them, Omarys Vasquez speaks about growing up in public housing, the challenges she faced pursuing an architecture degree, and how accessibility could be improved for future generations.

In "Emerging Professional Friendly Firm Program Comparison", Katelyn Chapin, AIA, and Ryan Welke, AIA, take a look at the AIA program that has been expanding across the United States since its launch in 2010. Using bold graphics and quantitative data, the authors contend comparing regional survey responses on topics such as racial and gender diversity, exam support and work flexibility, and in-house mentorship provides insights that can help firms assess, adopt, and implement strategies for more equitable, diverse, and inclusive experiences in the work place.
