Clinical Laboratory Building

There is a healing power to architecture which reminds inhabitants of our relationship to the natural world, especially in an urban environment. This dimension is even more important when considering the patients and families of life-threatening diseases. They need their spirits uplifted. Such was the aim of this facility.

Collaboration

The City, the developer, the users and the community were brought together in a process of creative engagement where each could be heard. This ensured that their individual needs could be served by the eventual design.

Art Integration

The process created a design that expressed aspirations of many diverse influences from the need to knit the fabric of the city back together to technical requirements of the clinical laboratories to the families and friends going to the Cancer Center.

Result

The Biophilic design not only connected the inhabitants to nature it also connected them to each other, lab technicians reminded of whom they served and patients encouraged by the dedication of those hoping to help them.
