A Dallas, Texas resident since the age of five, Lynn lived in her native Baltimore just long enough to know the real pronunciation of the city’s name (without the “t”) but considers herself truly a Dallas girl. She started her studies at University of Texas at Austin majoring in psychology, but switched to architectural interior design after a couple of years—though she says the psychology background continues to inform her understanding of how built environments impact their occupants.
After moving to Connecticut, Lynn practiced interior Design and worked on multiple commercial projects before founding Lynn Brotman Interior Design in 2000. She believes that her collaborations with Svigals + Partners are without a doubt the most rewarding. She says it was our commitment to creativity, and the time and freedom that creativity requires.
As the new head of our interiors group, Lynn employs a strong design direction while upholding our firm’s commitment to client goals and to each project’s integrity. She’d say her favorite part of the job is problem-solving—and is energized when presenting design concepts to the client for the first time, and watching as they first begin to envision what the project will be when complete. Lynn is committed to designing space that helps people be the best they can be.
What You Might Not Know
Lynn spent one semester of college studying in New York City, and it’s still a favorite place of hers for shopping, museums, and generally being inspired.
She is open-minded, and unafraid to go to work for a cause whether it’s volunteering at a soup kitchen, walking for breast cancer awareness or marching on Washington. Plus, we just love the way she says “y’all.”
